About Kvarner in North Adriatic sea in Croatia
BASKA is a town and port on the south-eastern coast of the island of Krk, located in the northern part of Baska Draga. The main road (M2) connects Baska and the town of Krk (19 km).The average summer air temperature is 22.8°C, and the sea water temperature is between 23 and 25°C.The main winds come from the north-east, the south and the west - the bora, sirocco and maestral. Fertile tracts of land in the Baska Draga valley, through which runs the Suha Ricina (Big Dry River) or Vela Rika (Big River), have enabled farming (wheat), fishing, viniculture, as well as making and selling of wine, which in turn, has given rise to maritime and shipbuilding industries.
Next to the old, compact part of the town, a new part with tourist facilities has been built, making Baska a well-known tourist destination. The town’s promenade is suitable for walks, bike riding, jogging and rollerblading.
Cultural events include carnival parades in January and February, while the Fisherman Day is the highlight of the summer.
